Set up and use the DVB-T receiver correctly
For those who neither have a satellite dish nor cable reception, a DVB-T receiver is the right alternative for receiving digital television.
When DVB-T makes sense
Anyone who has not yet converted to digital television must expect the television to remain dark from next year. Setting up digital television using a DVB-T receiver is the easiest and cheapest solution. It is useful in the following cases:
- When you don't watch much TV and don't want a lot of effort and expense. When no cable television is laid or when the charges for cable are too expensive.
- If the landlord does not allow you to add a satellite dish. If the satellite reception is disturbed by structural components, such as church towers or tall trees.
Connect a DVB-T receiver
To connect a DVB-T receiver to your television set, proceed as follows:
- Connect the TV set and receiver with a Scart cable. The scart connection is a 21-pin connector.
- Connect a DVB-T compatible antenna to the receiver. You should use an antenna that has a separate power supply. The better the antenna, the better the DVB-T receiver converts the signal on your television set.
- Now switch on the television and then switch on the receiver. The TV set will now automatically jump to the AV channel.
- Configure the receiver and perform a channel search.
- If only a few stations are found, realign the antenna, as this may have been due to a poor location of the antenna and thus a weak signal.
- Start the channel search again and wait. If necessary, place the transmitters in an order that suits you.
