Make your own stain-away paste
You have just had a mishap and are looking for a quick fix to get the stain off your garment. A self-made stain paste can provide first aid. Try the tried and tested gall soap.
What you need:
- Gall soap
- washing powder
- water
- Kitchen grater
- tablespoon
- key
- Hand mixer
- Hand washing brush
Make stain-away paste from gall soap
- Prepare a bowl ready to use to crush the gall soap for the stain-away paste.
- Grate some of the gall soap into this with the kitchen grater.
- Take a tablespoon out of the bowl with the grated gall soap.
- Put this in another small bowl.
- Add a tablespoon of the washing powder you used to make the paste.
- Mix the two well and add some tap water.
- Mix everything on a low level with a hand mixer. It has to remain a solid mass, so it is better to use a little less water for the stain paste than to use too much.

- Before treating the garment with the stain-away paste, check an inconspicuous area for color fastness. This will avoid major damage to the clothing.
- Wet the stain on your top with water.
- Remove some of the paste from the small bowl.
- Apply this directly to the moistened stain.
- Using a hand-washing brush, rub the paste onto the stain using circular movements.
- Let the paste work for a while.
- After the exposure time, rinse the stain-away paste with clear water. You can repeat the process depending on how dirty the stain is.
