  • Rolls at least 26 cm in size

The electric runabout

  • The skateboard with an electric motor has so far only been produced by a few manufacturers, as it is not permitted on German roads and can only be used on private property.
  • At first glance, the motorized board doesn't look any different from an ordinary skateboard. Technically, however, it is refined.
  • The motor is usually located in front of the rear axle underneath the board. This transfers the engine power to the axle of the skateboard by means of a belt drive.

You should keep this in mind when building

  • The board itself should consist of at least seven well-crafted layers of wood.
  • The axles should be of good quality and be able to bear the weight of the engine and yours without any problems.

  • The bushings of the board should be very stable in order to guarantee optimal steering ability.
  • The board itself should be at least 80 cm long and 20 cm wide.
  • Depending on how many watts the built-in motor brings with it, the motor should stop automatically when braking. This is the only way to ensure adequate safety and avoid serious accidents.
  • A skateboard with an electric motor can be loaded with around 120 kilograms. However, since the engine itself usually takes up 20 to 30 kilograms of it, this should be taken into account accordingly.
  • The tire diameter plays an important role. This should be at least 26 centimeters.
  • As in a car, the electric motor should have an electronically controlled anti-lock braking system. This prevents the tires from locking during braking.
