  1. As with traditional tiles, you should make sure that your floor tiles made of slate are dry and clean. Then measure the floor to know how many m² of slate floor tiles you will need. Then paint your floor with a deep primer, this serves for better adhesion. When the deep foundation has pulled in correctly, you should attach a rope for the first row of floor tiles.
  2. The rope is pulled from one wall to the other and should be exactly the same height as the slate floor tiles should then be. Measure with a tape measure and spirit level so that the slate floor tiles will all have the same height later. This rope should have a joint width from the wall where you start tiling. If the wall isn't straight, it doesn't matter as long as your rope is exactly straight.

Lay the slate flooring

  1. After the preparations have been completed, you can now apply the tile adhesive for the first row of slate tiles. Then you put the floor tiles in the adhesive and small tile crosses come between the floor tiles made of slate. When the first row is in place, take another precise measurement with the spirit level and then set the second row of floor tiles. It continues like this until the entire floor is covered with slate tiles.
  2. Then take some water from your masonry bucket and mix the ready-to-use grout. Of course, this only happens after the tile adhesive is really dry. Now spread the grout completely over the floor tiles and joints. After the mortar has set a little, clean the slate tiles thoroughly from the grout.
