You cannot route the water from the downspout of rain gutters into a hose by simply inserting the hose into a hole in the downspout. But you have the following option.

You can also route the hose from the filling machine to the rain collector over a longer distance, but it must never be higher than the outlet from the machine. In order for the overflow protection to work, the upper edge of all connected drums must be above the automatic filling connection. This is the only way to ensure that the water from the rain gutters can never spill over the barrels.
With this system you can lead water through a hose to a cistern in order to collect the water from the rain gutters. However, there is no overflow protection here, unless the cistern is at the same level as the filling machine.
