Prepare speculoos properly 

This layered dish is a Christmas variation of the famous dessert Tiramisu, in a spicy alternative that goes well with Christmas.

  1. Line the flat glass form with speculoos.
  2. Douse the firm cookies with espresso (the classic) or with, as you wish mulled wine, Vin Santos or maybe with cherry juice if the kids are having dinner.
  3. Wait until the cookies are soaked with the liquid. Then carefully pour off the remaining liquid, because the speculoos layer should not become too soupy or mushy.

Make the cream for the dessert 

  1. Mix the mascarpone with the curd and the liqueur.
  2. Sift the powdered sugar onto the mass and mix it in.
  3. Give something milk to the dessert cream, so that a spreadable mass is created.
  4. Now carefully spread the mascarpone cream onto the groats.
  5. You can decoratively sprinkle the dessert with the speculoos with chocolate shavings. Or you can decorate the creamy dessert with small chocolate cookies or other Christmas figures. Small gingerbread kitchens or mini cookies also complement this dessert.

Instructions for serving

  • Instead of a flat glass bowl, you can also fill the dessert in portion glasses.
  • However, these should be flat at the bottom so that the speculoos can be laid out.
  • You can also add several layers in tall cups or glasses, but it is advisable here to break the speculoos into pieces and not soak them. The fluid in the surrounding layers takes care of this after a while.
