Laying out your pool with tiles is always a whole lot of work, and of course nothing should go wrong. It is best to seek help from a tiler or at least seek professional advice again.

Prepare the pool

  • When making the concrete, you should be careful not to build any joints in the pool body, so that you can lay tiles better later.
  • It is important to realize how much time there has to be between pouring the concrete in the pool and laying the tiles. Because the concrete shrinks noticeably again in the first six months. If you lay tiles too early, the concrete will change, the tiles will slip and your work will be in vain.
  • If it has to be done very quickly, you can also use special concrete that can be tiled after just three months.

Lay the tiles

  • It is important that you lay the tiles without any cavities if possible and that you use the buttering-floating method. You apply tile mortar to the tiles and the substrate and then slide the tiles onto the substrate. Make sure that the mortar has quality level 2.
  • Thermal and brine baths are particularly difficult and the tile mortar must be matched to the composition of the water.
  • For grouting the newly laid tiles, it is best to use flexible joints and to coat them with plastic. Silicone joints always have the problem that they age and therefore have to be regularly serviced and renewed by you.
