- Guano fertilizer is already contained in many fertilizers and in some potting soil.

- A distinction must be made between organic and mineral fertilizers.
- Organic fertilizers, which include guano fertilizer, are made from natural waste products such as manure and compostbut possibly also blood, bones and beef horns. Organic fertilizers develop their effect better at higher temperatures, since only then are the microorganisms active.
- In the case of mineral fertilizers, on the other hand, the ingredients are quickly absorbed by the plants. Instead of organic substances, salts are released here. Mineral fertilizers should therefore not be used too heavily.
