This is how parcels are addressed.

Addressing parcels

  • Basically, both pieces of information - i.e. the address of the sender and the recipient - belong on the front of the parcel. Actually only letters in the format DIN long or A6 without window with the sender information on the back.
  • In Germany there is no requirement that you have to write parcels or other items in block letters, but it can also be required for parcels to other countries. Since block letters are easier to read in automatic sorting systems, you should always use block letters. Illegibly written information means that the parcels have to be sorted by hand, which extends the delivery time.

Enter the sender and recipient correctly

  • It is best if you use a parcel label, because the fields where which information belongs are already labeled. You can get one Shipping label also download. You can fill out this sticker on your PC by clicking on Mark fields. In any case, a correct sticker with a barcode makes sense.
  • Always write the details of the recipient on the right-hand side, regardless of whether you are using a sticker or want to write directly on the parcel. If you write the recipient directly on the parcel, it should be in the lower right corner.
  • Slice the sender information up to the left. If the parcel is very small, you can write this information on the back. It is always better, however, if both details are in front. If the parcel goes back to the sender, there may be problems if this is at the back. At least the term will be longer.
  • Print parcel labels - this is how it works

No official stickers are required to send parcels, but ...

  • Regardless of whether you use the address of the recipient or the sender, always put the first and last name or the company in the first line. Under this you put special notes - such as a department in the company. In addition, you must include the recipient's telephone number when specifying the recipient if the parcel is going abroad. Below that are the street and house number - Attention: When shipping abroad, the order may be different and put the postcode and the city in the next line. Here, too, it can be the other way around for shipments abroad.
  • You always have to put the country of destination in the bottom row. It is advantageous if you always write the country in capital letters and name it in 2 languages.

Parcels that you correctly provide with the details for the recipient and sender will be delivered faster and any return will be quicker.
