Flea traps have a long tradition

  • Especially in the baroque era Fleas a real problem. From today's perspective, the disastrous understanding of hygiene, especially among the upper classes, ensured that the pests could multiply almost unchecked. During this time it was therefore quite common not only to position flea traps in the apartment, but to wear them on the body all day long.
  • Although there were also flea traps that worked by means of various odorous substances, the best way to catch the parasites is another: Fleas are attracted by heat. After all, their hosts are also generally warm-blooded animals.

This is the natural way to get rid of the pests

  • A well-tried, easy to manufacture and quite efficient means is the water trap. For this, place a deep plate filled with water in the affected part of your home. Now place a candle in the middle of the plate and light it. Make sure that there are no easily inflammable objects nearby - the use of tea lights minimizes the risk of fire. The heat from the candle will attract fleas. In order for them to drown in the water, you have to add a few drops of washing-up liquid to reduce the surface tension of the water. If several rooms are infested, simply set up several flea traps.
  • Although the trap described is a great way to kill the fleas, there is still more activity you can take. Thoroughly vacuum any pad and floors. You can sprinkle salt on the appropriate surfaces beforehand and leave it overnight. This is how you should take out most of the fleas.
