Repair the belt winder on the roller shutter

This is how you remove the defective belt winder

The belt winder housing must always be opened. It doesn't matter whether it is installed under plaster or on Window is screwed on. Make sure that the roller shutter is lowered before opening the belt roller. If this is not possible, you must open the case with particular care. It may be that the tension spring is caught or broken. Such a device cannot be repaired and must be replaced. When executed under plaster

Once the two retaining screws on the cover have been loosened, the belt winder can be pulled out of the wall niche. Now you can determine what defect it has. To do this, turn the belt pulley slightly to check whether the spiral spring still has tension. If this roller can be moved in both directions without resistance, you will need to replace the belt winder with a new one. In this case, unwind the strap completely from the reel and memorize the direction in which it was wound. You must reinstall the belt in the same position on the new device. When doing this, block the roller so that the tension does not change. A punched out tongue on the side of the roll serves this purpose. It can be bent up with a screwdriver so that the capsule stops at the stop.

If you want to increase the tension on the spring because it is reluctant to pull in the belt, unwind the belt completely and unhook it from the driving nose. Now turn the capsule twice against the spring tension; the tension should now have increased significantly. Hold the capsule in this position and bend the safety tab so high that the capsule can no longer rotate. Now thread the belt back into its old position and press the safety catch down again. The belt must wind up in the same number of layers as before when the roller shutter is closed. In this state, install the device back into the wall niche.

Repair a surface-mounted device

The housing can be seen in this version and is screwed onto two tabs. After loosening these screws you have the entire housing in your hand. Open it around the circumference with a narrow screwdriver, it's just clipped together. The technology in it does not differ from that in the previously described model. Here too, the spring capsule has a tab that you have to bend up to prevent the spring from relaxing. Re-tightening is done in the same steps as above and before screwing on, press the two housing halves together again with a light tap with the heel of your hand.

If your roller shutter is not operated with a belt but with a cord, the only thing that changes is the type of locking in the capsule. Simply reattach the cord the way you found it and you will succeed!
