Which animals do frogs eat?
Frogs can be found all over the world, except in the cold polar regions. They belong to the amphibian genus and can therefore live on land, but also in water. A frog spawn can consist of several thousand eggs. This is also necessary because the frog has many natural enemies. But which animals like to eat the frog?
1. The frog spawn is already eaten with pleasure
Frogs like to lay their spawn in the waters of small pools. This habitat is also used by numerous ducks, who like to enjoy the spawn.
2. The frogs' tadpoles also live dangerously
Tadpoles emerge from the spawn after a while. They live in water and are eaten there by a special swimming beetle. It is the yellow beetle. Even the larva of this animal eats around 900 tadpoles.
3. Small frogs are eaten by small animals
The tadpole becomes a young frog, which is even smaller than the adult animals. After he has spent his entire life in the water, the first shore leave is often observed by the predator. In addition to the white wagtail (photo), blackbirds, ground beetles and wolf spiders lurk at the edge of the water with hungry stomachs.
4. Which birds like amphibians?
First and foremost, storks eat adult frogs. Their beaks are almost made to look for the animals in grass and water and to catch them immediately. But the gray heron is not averse to the amphibians either.
5. Animals on the ground as predators
Snakes like to eat a frog. In our latitudes it is the adder that sneaks up on the amphibians. But even the hungry fox will not let the frog run if it cannot find any other food.
