The Opel Corsa B was produced from 1993 to 2000. In the beginning, the vehicle still had the old engines from its predecessor. It was a 1.2 literengine with 45 hp and a 1.4 liter engine with 60 hp. From 1994 the engines were revised.

You can recognize the engines of the Opel Corsa B by different names

  • The Opel Corsa B was offered with various petrol engines. These offered a displacement of 1.0 to 1.6 liters and an output of 33 to 78 kW.
  • The vehicle was also available with diesel engines. These were available in sizes ranging from 1.5 to 1.7 liters and with an output of 37 - 49 kW. The diesel engines were not Opel productions themselves, but came from ISUZU, a company belonging to General Motors.
  • The engines of the Opel Corsa have a special designation. X10XE, for example, is the name of the three-cylinder engine. The first digit means the emissions standard (in this case D3 / D4), the second and third digit indicate the displacement with the value x0.1. In this case it is 10x0.1 = 1.0 liter displacement. The fourth digit indicates the compression ratio. In the example it is 10.5 - 11.5: 1. You can also tell whether it is a diesel engine, e.g. B. X17D.
  • The fifth and sixth digits indicate the mixture system (in this case E for single injection).

The Opel engine kept causing problems

  • The vehicle's gasoline engines in particular have different problems depending on their design and cubic capacity. These were observed in the exhaust gas recirculation valve, the air mass meter, the valve stem seal or the distributor. The valve stem seals lead to increased oil consumption and the distributor gets wet more often.
  • The workshops also complain about clacking hydraulic valve lifters. A toothed belt tear or the toothed belt skipping is also often detected. Defective knock sensors are another problem with the engine installed in the vehicle.

Despite some problems, the small car is particularly popular with women. It is offered with three or five doors.
