Getting married in the mountains or on the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany, is very romantic. But if you want to be close to heaven, you should pay attention to a few things.
The date for getting married on the Zugspitze
- Civil weddings take place on the Zugspitze once a month. If you have good relationships, you may be able to get your preferred date. You should start planning very early, because the Zugspitze is of course very popular.
- For the church wedding must you agree with the Protestant or Catholic Church in Garmisch Partenkirchen. There is a chapel where you can get married. If you want to get married in the open air, you have to make the individual arrangements with the pastor or priest.
Possible problems when getting married on the Zugspitze

- Old people, pregnant women and young children experience problems with the mountain air. Pregnant women and babies should not be higher than 1200 meters. An alternative would be, for example, a small civil ceremony on the Zugspitze and a large church wedding in the valley.
- You should also put up with the fact that your wedding will attract many curious tourists. Some of them may not necessarily be the guests you want at your wedding. This cannot be prevented, because the Zugspitze is absolutely marketed and therefore by no means offers a rustic alpine pasture.
