Open and use MD5 files
MD5 files can be opened with the text editor, which you can find under the path Start-> Programs-> Accessories. But just opening it doesn't make a lot of sense. It is therefore advisable to use a tool that can open the file and check the download at the same time.
- Download the helpful tool for this purpose WinMD5Free down. The program is in English, but very easy to use.
- Open the tool.
- Click "Browse" and find the MD5 file that you want to open.
- Click OK". The program will now process the opened MD5 file. It automatically creates a so-called checksum.
- This checksum, which consists of numbers and letters, is the helpful thing about the MD5 file. But you alone are not enough. So go to the website from which you downloaded the file that contained the MD5 file.
- You will find an MD5 verification code on this website. Copy this code.
- Enter it in the last free field of WinMD5Free.
- Click on "Verify".
The program will now show you whether everything is okay with your download. After that, you no longer need the MD5 file.
