If you want to dye Easter eggs, the choice is yours - either you use natural ones Colours or you can choose Easter egg colors, which are available in many stores from March.

Make a natural brew that colors eggs

  • For red Easter eggs you need to make a colored brew from red cabbage or beetroot. Cut the beetroot or red cabbage leaves into small pieces and boil everything in 1 liter of water for 40 minutes. After cooking, filter the solid components out of the colored brew.
  • With elderberry juice or blueberry juice you can color the Easter eggs really nice blue. So the juice is the color brew here.
  • For yellow eggs, you can color the Easter eggs with saffron. Put 1 1/2 teaspoons of saffron in a liter of water. After half an hour of exposure, boil the water properly for another half an hour.
  • To color Easter eggs orange, grate carrots and boil them in a liter of water for 40 minutes. Again, remove the solid components from the colored brew and let it cool down.
  • Coloring Easter eggs with natural material

You can also dye Easter eggs with pure natural materials. However, it shows ...

  • To get a green color, also boil the finely chopped spinach in a liter of water for 40 minutes and, after cooling, remove the solid components with a sieve.

If you want a more intense shade of color for your eggs, you can add a little alum to the colored stock. A pinch should be enough here. You can get soft colors by adding a little vinegar to the colored brew.

Color the eggs correctly with a colored stock

  1. Clean white eggs with a little vinegar water, so that any Existing stamps or stains are no longer visible.
  2. Hard boil the eggs.
  3. Sort out the cracked and broken eggs after cooking. By the way, you can use them to make a potato salad.
  4. Rinse the hot eggs with cold water and then place the eggs in a prepared cold colored stock for half an hour. If you want softer colors, you can remove the Easter eggs from the brew earlier. For stronger colors, add a little alum to the brew, or leave the eggs in the liquid for a longer time.
  5. When the eggs are the color you want, take them out of the colored stock and let them dry.
  6. To conjure up a nice shine on the eggs, wipe them with a cloth on which you have previously placed a few drops of cooking oil.

Other ways to decorate Easter eggs

  • You can conjure up patterns on the eggs by sticking stickers on eggs or with warm ones wax paint on the eggs before placing the eggs in the colored broth that will color the eggs.
  • You can get beautiful patterned eggs by using store-bought marbling paints on the Easter eggs. Instructions are provided on the package on how to best apply the paint.
  • You can paint a pattern on the colored eggs with citric acid or vinegar. After a short time, the painted pattern will become visible. It is especially nice to use a toothbrush to squirt the citric acid onto the eggs. Here you get a nice, individual dot pattern.
