  5. Another, but much more common, cause of the “Press DEL to run Setup” message is a dead CMOS battery. You can change these yourself relatively easily. CMOS is the abbreviation for Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconducter. This battery is used to provide power to some areas of the motherboard, in case the computer has been disconnected from the mains.
  6. To do this, you need to open the casing of your computer. The CMOS battery is located on the motherboard. It is silver in color and about 1.5 cm in diameter. You take this battery out and get a new one at an electronics store. As a rule, such a battery costs around 1 euro.
  7. Then insert the new CMOS battery and close the computer case. Then the message “Press DEL to run Setup” should no longer appear.
