  • The right amount of food that you cook for your dog yourself depends on various factors such as castration, activity, age, weight and the dog's state of health. If your dog is overweight, reduce the meat ration and offer him more vegetables.
  • For a dog weighing 10 kg you need approx. 250 g of meat and 50 g of vegetables and a teaspoon of oil. If your dog weighs 20 kg, take approx. 500 g of meat and 100 g of vegetables, as well as a tablespoon of oil. These guidelines apply to a daily ration for a healthy adult dog.

Basics if you cook yourself

  • In order to be able to use the nutrients in vegetables optimally, you have to puree them if you cook for your dog yourself, or grate them very small. You can also briefly boil or steam the vegetables and then mash them. Vegetables can be ideally combined with meat.
  • Noodles and rice must of course be cooked for the dog, but should not be on the menu too often. They are part of the grain and dogs cannot use this very well. If you have cancer or epilepsy, you should avoid grains for your dog. Meat and grains together in one meal can cause gas.
  • You can cook all kinds of meat for your dog yourself, but not bones. Cooked bones can splinter and are therefore very dangerous. If you want to feed your dog appropriately, give him the raw meat to eat. Beware of pork. You should never feed it raw, because a few years ago it was infected with the Aujetzkivirus in Germany, which can be fatal for dogs.

Cook food for your dog yourself

  1. If you cook for your dog yourself, boil or stew carrots and corn and then mash them together with the parsley to a pulp. With a blender or hand blender, you can also mash the raw vegetables quickly and easily. If your bitch is pregnant, you must not feed parsley.
  2. Now put the raw meat in the bowl and mix it with the vegetable puree and a dash of olive oil. If you do not want to offer your dog raw meat, you can of course cook it yourself. Lukewarm or room-warm meals are ideal for your dog.

After eating, you can offer your dog a raw beef bone. So he is busy and cleans his teeth at the same time. dogs love bones, but don't offer hard bones to an old dog with broken teeth.
