How to replace a defective copper pipe

  3. Deburr the two remaining pieces of pipe with a round file. There must be no more ridge in it.
  4. Then saw a new pipe to the required length. Sand both ends of the pipe a little with fine sandpaper. Do the same with the other two pipe ends.

  1. If you don't like soldering, you can also press a copper pipe on the heater. This is much easier and requires less manual skills. But for this you need a pipe press, which is not cheap. You also need so-called press fittings. Fittings are sleeves, bends, tees and the like.
  2. Preparations for repairs are similar to those for soldering. The difference, however, is that you attach suitable compression sleeves to the existing pipe ends.
  3. Then bring the new pipe into the intended position and slide the compression sleeves over it. You then set up the pipe press and squeeze the sleeves and pipes together.

Replacing copper pipes on the heating system using a pressing process is particularly advantageous in old buildings. Since no gas burner is required for the work, there is no risk of fire.
