Divorce costs, who pays?
Divorces are generally expensive. In individual cases, the question arises as to which divorce costs are incurred and who of the spouses pays what.

- The first thing you should know is what the costs will be. If you want to get a divorce by mutual agreement, you will have to pay legal and court fees. If not, you will have to deal with further costs for that divorce calculate, for example for appraisers, etc., which must also be paid by you. There are no single prices for divorces. Each case is considered individually by the court and the costs are calculated based on the value in dispute or the subject value of the divorce in order to be able to determine the divorce costs. The amount in dispute consists of the net income and assets of the partners and the number of children who are entitled to maintenance. If the amount in dispute is too low, a minimum item value of 2,000 euros applies.
- The question of who pays the divorce bill is easy to answer: everyone pays half the cost that fell. From a legal point of view, one speaks of the fact that the costs are offset against each other. Should one of the partners absolutely want a divorce, they can offer to bear the costs alone. However, this is a voluntary thing.
- But you could also try to keep the costs as low as possible if you want to share them. For example, you could share a lawyer as a partner. This is only advisable if the divorce is amicable and you have peacefully resolved your marital affairs and obligations. Or you can save yourself a lawyer completely, because at the court hearing there is no compulsory lawyer as long as you do not want to submit any applications to the court.
Divorces don't always have to be ugly when you can come to an agreement as a still partner. So think carefully about whether you want to argue for years.
