One of the most important wedding customs is the wedding loader

  • It is a very old custom from times when postage for invitations should or had to be saved more often. The wedding host verbally invites the guests. He goes from door to door or from guest to guest and recites a verse that includes the invitation. You can recognize a wedding loader by its stick decorated with colored ribbons. The ribbons are red for that love, blue for fidelity, green for hope, and white for virginity.
  • The wedding loader also supports you in all of the preparations, from finding a location to choosing a menu and planning the exact course of the celebration.
  • During the celebration, so-called "Gstanzl", small songs in dialect, are sung by the wedding host. The texts refer to personal characteristics of the groom and bride and to previous situations. Gstanzl are sung in verse. The lyrics are a bit crude, but never offensive.
  • The wedding loader also takes on other tasks during the party, such as moderation.

  • The children of the village like to charge a small road toll from those who drive from the church to the pub. No further travel without road tolls. As a guest, you should therefore have some change with you. Wedding customs like this are still common, especially in rural areas.

A wedding is something very wonderful: two lovers swear eternal loyalty to each other ...

  • Order a "Kranzlpaar" consisting of a friend and a girlfriend of the bride and groom. It takes on organizational tasks - such as handing out ribbons for cars, putting up place cards, etc. They should also deliver the second dance, i.e. the one directly after the bride and groom, as otherwise in some places a round is to be paid to the band.
  • The abduction of the bride is a custom throughout Germany. In Bavaria, however, it is part of the groom's triggering that he also performs a Gstanzl. It is best to prepare a text beforehand.
  • The "kneeling failure" is a custom that is somewhat painful for the groom: He has to kneel on a log and solve a task the bride gives him, for example to make her five promises for the future. If he has solved the task, he can get up.
  • In some places in Bavaria, guests bring a "notification handkerchief" with them. Any amount of money is wrapped in it for the wedding couple. When the celebration is over, everyone who gives a notification handkerchief can pack and take some of the leftover food with them.

So, one of the typical Bavarian wedding customs is hiring a wedding loader. He supports you with words and deeds and also creates a good mood.
