Cut out an area from the screenshot and save it
If you want to keep a picture on your desktop, for example a game score on a Computer game or an unknown error message, you have the option to do so with a Screenshot to do. If you now want to know how to cut out certain parts of the screenshot, the following article will explain it to you.
Take a screenshot
- Whenever you find yourself in the situation in which you want to take a screenshot, you sometimes have to act quickly, as the desired image can quickly disappear again.
- You should therefore remember the key combination "Ctrl + Print" very carefully and always have it in the back of your mind when you intend to take a screenshot.
- When the time has come and the desired motif can be seen on the desktop, quickly press the above-mentioned key combination "Ctrl + Print" and you have taken your screenshot.
- As long as you have not changed any of the options, these screenshots are then saved under My Documents in the "My Documents" folder pictures" saved.

Cut and save screenshot
- If you now want to cut out certain areas of the screenshot because they are insignificant for the image, or because private and confidential content can be seen in the areas, that is no problem.
- All you need is the "Paint" program pre-installed on all PCs. This drawing program can be used to open and edit screenshots.
- To do this, open the program that you can find in the start menu and wait for it to open.
- Now create your screenshot as described above by pressing the familiar key combination. The screenshot is now automatically saved in the clipboard.
- Now go to your paint program and press the key combination "Shift + Ins". This will display the screenshot in Paint, and you can edit it with the various tools and cut out certain areas.
- When you have finished cutting, press File and then "Save as". Now select a storage location and the appropriate format to save the edited screenshot.
