Selling a car abroad

Buying a car from a dealership is usually very easy. It could also be the sale if you trade it in for a new purchase. Selling as a private seller can sometimes cause some trouble if you ignore some formalities. This also applies to sales abroad.

Keep your eyes open when selling your vehicle

After the sale of your vehicle, problems can arise if the car buyer does not meet his legal obligations and those listed in the contract.

• This applies in particular to de-registering or re-registering the vehicle. It does not matter whether you are selling the car to a German person or someone who is interested in taking the vehicle abroad.

Selling a vehicle that is still registered - what you should be aware of
