Change your file extension from MDX to ISO

In order to be able to change the file extension from MDX to ISO, you have to display this extension. You can do this under Windows very easy to achieve. And only then can you really convert the format.

  1. Click the start button on your screen.
  2. A list of all folder structures will now appear in front of you. In the right column you will see the item “Control Panel”. Select this one.
  3. You will then be shown various icons. Here you will find the description "Folder Options".
  4. After clicking on this topic, a small options dialog opens.
  5. Convert mod files - how to proceed

Do you want or need to convert mod files, for example to ...

  6. Now select the second tab with the title "View".
  7. You will then see a long list of various setting options.
  8. You will see the point "Hide extensions for known file types" quite high up. Here you have to remove the tick.
  9. Now press the "Apply" button.
  10. Finally, your setting is completed by clicking on "OK". You can now change the file extension because it is visible.

Alternatively, use a conversion program

Make sure that when you switch from MDX to ISO, your file has remained healthy. To ensure this, you should use ultraISO for the conversion.

  1. Get the free Converter from the Internet.
  2. Next, install the downloaded file on your system.
  3. Now open the program and select your drive. The file should be there. It doesn't matter if there is a hard disk or a DVD drive.
  4. Then click on this drive with the right mouse button.
  5. You will now see the option "Create image", which you also select.
  6. After that, all you have to do is enter the location of your file and the file format. In the latter case, of course, choose .iso.
  7. This ISO file can now also be edited for possible extensions or additions. Then select your existing file with a right click.
  8. In the following you will decide on the option “Add to .iso file”.

Remember that the files in the FAT32 system can be split when changing from MDX to ISO. Only 4GB blocks are supported here. You should therefore choose the NFTS system, otherwise the file cannot be read after conversion.
