This is how you can make your own lanterns
For your garden party, you will need some pretty paper lanterns. With a little skill and the right "ingredients" you can easily make these yourself. Use empty milk cartons for this, which you collect beforehand. This type of handicraft saves money and is also fun as a family activity. Let your creativity run free.
- That Handcraft a lantern from an empty milk carton requires you to cut off the top of the carton first. We recommend washing the box clean with a little washing-up liquid and letting it dry.
- Use a cutter knife to cut along a small piece wood small window. Before doing this, it is advisable to measure the corner bridges that should remain in place. Approximately 1.5 to 2.5 cm per side are suitable as dimensions for this in order to maintain stability. It is helpful if you draw lines, which you then carefully cut along.

Enhance the "windows" of the lanterns
- It looks particularly nice if you also cover the windows with colored tracing paper from the inside. From the outside, paper cuts, confetti, punched-out motifs or pressed leaves can be glued onto the bars.
- When you are done with the handicrafts, you still need a hanging device to make yourself. This can consist of sturdy threads or wire. To be able to attach the threads or the wire to the upper edge of your paper lanterns, carefully drill holes in the edge with a knitting needle. This then pulls the wire or thread and attaches it.
- Finally, hang the lanterns in your garden on a string. Have lots of fun with it!
