Which TomTom devices are affected

  • The software problems, as a result of which no GPS signal is displayed on the sat nav, occur with the following Models on: GO 800,1000,2000 series, Start 20 and 25, VIA 100 and 1000, Blue & Me-TomTom2, TomTom Connect.
  • To check which device you have, go to the Internet and start the support page for your TomTom, usually MyTomTom. There you have a search function in which you enter the first two characters of the serial number. Your model will then be displayed.
  • Before you change anything on the TomTom, you should make sure that your device really has a clear view of the satellites. In order for your position to be fixed, there must be visual contact with four satellites. Take the device outside with you and wait about five minutes for TomTom to try to establish a connection.

No GPS signal - what to do?

  • If your car has a windscreen with a thermal protection coating, it can also be that this obstructs communication with the navigation system, so that no GPS signal can be received.   • The radical solution remains to update the software. To do this, you need to create an account with TomTom. This doesn't work on Linux. Connect your device to a Windows or Mac computer and download the appropriate program. After setting up the account, you can click on "Update software", the device will then be brought up to date.
