VIDEO: Make lavender soap yourself

This recipe is not about soaping, which requires some experience. The soap is also not poured, so you don't need any special molds.

How to prepare the ingredients for the lavender soap

  • It is best to harvest the lavender flowers in September, just before they bloom. You can also store dried flowers in a closed container. If the flowers are stored for a long time, however, they gradually lose their fragrance, so you will have to use more flowers for the recipe.
  • If you want to work a few flowers into the lavender soap, peel them off the stems. You can also use the stems cut into small pieces for the lavender stock with which you scent the soap.
  • If you don't have any soap flakes, you can make some yourself. To do this, grate the bar of soap. The flakes shouldn't be too coarse, as this will make them more difficult to dissolve.

So you can make the scented soap yourself

  1. Put the lavender flowers and, if necessary, the stems cut into small pieces in the pot. If you want to work flowers into the soap, set aside a few severed flowers.
  2. Spice up and use soap flakes creatively

Processing soap flakes is a hobby in which children can also use their imagination ...

  3. Bring water to a boil and pour 60 milliliters of water over the lavender flowers. Cover the pot with the lid and let the infusion steep for thirty minutes.
  4. Pour the brew through the sieve into the bowl. Add the soap flakes, the oil and possibly a few dried lavender flowers.
  5. Knead the mass quickly and thoroughly and shape it into any pieces, for example balls or thalers.
  6. The lavender soap needs to dry for at least a day, but two weeks are optimal.

If you wrap the bar of soap in an appealing way, it is also suitable as a gift. For example, you can make a fabric bag yourself on which you can paint lavender flowers. Or you can wrap the lavender soap in foil with a few dried lavender sprigs.
