A nice window decoration for the winter

With the paper cut you can easily and effectively create a beautiful window decoration for the winter. Whether just made of construction paper or backed with tracing paper - in any case, this star silhouette will be an asset to your Christmas window!

  1. Find your choice of construction paper and tracing paper in the craft store. It looks nice when they Colours form a contrast. Use green construction paper and red tracing paper, for example. Purple and yellow or blue and orange are also good. But you decide what you like best.
  2. You need square paper for the paper cut. If necessary, cut your construction paper to size. Now fold the square into a triangle. Then fold it again in the middle so that the two long sides of the triangle are on top of each other. Repeat the last step again.
  3. Now you have a triangle with one fully closed, one half-closed, and one open side. Fold the completely closed side over the half-closed side. The triangle should look like an ice cream cone with a triangle protruding from the top.
  4. Now you need a pair of sharp scissors. Place the paper triangle in front of you so that the corner looks to the right and you have a straight line on the left.

  6. The cut is made on the lower triangle. Cut from the right tip until just over half the straight line. Now you have a triangle again. Cut a smaller triangle out of this triangle so that it looks like a thin roof.
  7. The more oblique you set the angle, the more pointed the points of your star will be. Likewise, the size of the inner triangle you cut out will affect the finished star. If you cut out a large triangle, you will get narrow star lines; if you cut out a small triangle, you will get broad star lines.
  8. Carefully unfold everything and your paper cutting star is ready!

It doesn't hurt to try the whole thing on plain paper to get a feel for how your star will turn out with which type of cut.

Embellish the paper cut with tracing paper

  1. If you now want to embellish your star with tracing paper, you have to cut out two construction paper stars that have the same cut. To do this, you can measure and draw the two triangles that will be cut out. So make sure your Stars have the same shape.
  2. A star is also folded from the tracing paper and cut out. However, all you need to do here is cut out the large triangle. For this, however, draw the same top line that you also recorded for the other two. So the star is just as big as your other two.
  3. Now coat the construction paper star with glue. Don't take too much, or the glue may ooze over the edge. Place the transparent star on the construction paper star and smooth it out. Now apply glue to the other construction paper star and carefully place it on top of the other two. Before smoothing out, make sure that the two construction paper stars are exactly on top of each other.
  4. Put the whole thing to dry. When everything is dry, pull a thin thread through the tip of the star and your window decoration for the winter is ready!
