How to issue a valid parental authority
A parental authority is only valid in writing. In terms of content, some points are an integral part of every document.
Form and content of a valid parental authority
Oral agreements on raising children are contestable. Always issue a parental authority in writing.
- Your personal data and those of the proxy belong in the head of the parental authority. Name the period of parental transfer.
- You will receive power of attorney forms from care facilities (day care center, school). This describes which education and up to which point in time may be carried out by the supervisor. Mention any exceptions in the appendix to the form.
- The same content applies to excursions without your companion. All carers during the excursion must countersign the parental authority.
- Before you start your journey, you will be provided with a valid parental authority as a form for the child to travel. This must include the name of the school, the student and the period of the power of attorney. If there are health or educational reasons, list exactly which travel activities you prohibit.
- A statement of liability by you and a declaration of liability from the caregivers also belong in a valid parental authority.
- Insure your child against travel risks, illnesses, accidents and liability claims. State the existing insurance in the form.
- The parental authority must be signed by the child's parents and the person / s to whom the authority is granted. The date and all signatures always belong to the conclusion of the parental authority.

In private, you create a valid parental authority according to exactly the same criteria. In the event of a legal dispute, this written form is sufficient even without using a form.
