Difference between elk and deer
Both animals have antlers and usually live in the wild. We are talking about a deer and an elk, which laypeople often confuse with one another. Hence the legitimate question of the difference.
What these animals have in common
Note that both animals are mammals and that they are both cloven-hoofed animals. Basically, both belong to the deer group.
- Both the deer and the Moose can live in the valley and in the mountains. Remember that both species like to hide in the bushes. One of the reasons for this is that both species are hunted by humans.
- Both species of animals were domesticated by humans and happily kept in captivity. This is done partly to gain food from it, and partly to be able to present these animals to you and other people (zoo, petting zoo, etc.).

The elk is divided into a total of seven subspecies. Nevertheless, there are a few characteristics by which it can be recognized:
- Note that the elk can grow to be over two meters tall and weigh over 800 kilograms. Deer are much smaller.
- Logically, the elk's antlers are accordingly much larger. It is attached to the outside of the head and tends to grow more in width than in height. Furthermore, parts of the antlers are filled in, while the deer's antlers are more reminiscent of sticks or branches.

You can recognize the deer by this difference

- You can recognize the deer by the fact that it is much more graceful than the elk and has smaller, more delicate antlers that grow more in height than in width. The most important differentiating factor is the smaller size and the lower weight.

You will surely find the fact that most deer species have brown fur that is important. The sika deer, however, is brown-black in color.
