In 2014, the new Mercedes C-Class comes onto the market. This will then replace the current model and also become more versatile. In addition to sedans, coupé and station wagons, a van in this class will probably also be available for the first time - this is likely to put Audi and BMW under pressure.

The equipment of the C-Class van

  • Thanks to the modular system, the van will be on a par with the T-model (station wagon). The van will probably not have planned sliding doors at the rear, it will remain with ordinary doors, and the B-pillar will also be retained.
  • The interior will be in the usual Mercedes quality, since the car is not a commercial vehicle. There will also be assistance systems from the sedan, with seven seats available as an option.
  • The basic equipment includes a manual gearbox and an automatic gearbox for a surcharge. It is not yet clear whether there will be a variant with all-wheel drive, called 4Matic at Mercedes, in the future.

This motorization will exist

  • In terms of engines, the van will be based on the new C-Class. With the four-cylinder petrol engines, the van starts with the C180 and will end with the C250. Certainly the C350 will also be available as a top engine, an eight-cylinder variant or an AMG model will probably not be available.
  • The range of diesel engines will probably only include four-cylinder compression-ignition engines. However, the performance for the van could then be increased a little. A hybrid version of the van will also be launched, albeit a little later.

Alternatives to the C-Class Van

  • There are the Viano and Vito models from Mercedes. These two vans are offered in different versions and are based on their own platform.
  • In the case of the competition, for example, is the VW Sharan or the Lancia Yoyager are an alternative to the future van based on the C-Class. In addition, these are much cheaper. (As of 12/2012)
