Mulching - no success without preliminary work
Suppressing weeds by applying a layer of mulch works well. However, only if the relevant preparatory work has been carried out. There is little point in simply pouring the chopped bark over the weeds on a bed.
You should have carefully removed all unpleasant growths beforehand. Then the soil is loosened well and the chopped layer is applied high enough. Only then can the natural weed suppressor work. If you would like additional protection, spread a weed fleece under the mulch layer.
Flamethrower - very dangerous use
To remove weeds from sidewalks and slabs, the use of a flamethrower seems sensible. Unfortunately, dealing with fire is always dangerous. You should never use such a device, especially in the area of hedges. Woods catch fire all too quickly, which can spread uncontrollably and cause considerable damage.
If you still want to burn off weeds, then only when there is absolutely no wind. Work with great concentration and avoid reckless actions. You should never work near easily inflammable materials or substances.
