With this, Italians usually take espresso to wake up and a little something like biscuits or pretzels. But if you want a full Italian breakfast, you can simply take the typical local dishes, which are usually eaten some time after you wake up.

For a typical Italian breakfast, these types of bread should be ready. The aforementioned olive oil can often be found at breakfast. You can drizzle it on the bread or dip it in it.

  • The well-known Parma ham is usually placed on top of the bread. In every village, no matter how small, you can find shops selling this ham in many varieties.
  • Cheeses such as mozzarella, sheep's cheese and hard cheese (such as Parmesan) can also be found on the breakfast table - just like the well-known Italian salami. This is also very hard and spicy - therefore something neutral in taste is recommended.
