Parapatric speciation briefly explained

Have you ever heard of parapatric speciation? Basically, the explanation is not that difficult. It definitely has to do with the environmental conditions.

The climate can disrupt speciation.

Parapatric speciation has this meaning

The word speciation is also called speciation in technical terms. For biologists, parapatric means geographic distribution.

  • Parapatric speciation creates new biological species. There are large numbers of animals and plants in the world. The textbook of botany for universities (source) describes 1.75 million species and around 500,000 plants.
  • If, for example, the environmental conditions change, the parapatric process is the formation of new species. But that does not mean that the new species can now adapt to environmental factors.
  • Lizards, for example, can camouflage themselves well. For example, a dark-skinned lizard adapts well on a dark rock - just like light-colored lizards on a light rock. Both mate and the result is a grayish color. This creates a new species.
  • Unfortunately, the grayish lizards are no longer protected from enemies if there are no corresponding rocks.
  • The ecological chain - this is how it works

You often hear about it, the ecological chain. But what do you actually understand ...

  • However, this education is difficult to prove by experts. One reason for this can also be the so-called allopatric education. For this purpose, environmental conditions (climate change, mountain formation) can actually be involved in the spread of new species.

Experts call the counterpart of the new formation of species "extinction".

What environmental factors mean for biological species

  • For many, environment means nature or ecology. It is man-made influences in which man lives and which he created. The animals and plants, on the other hand, only act according to their instincts and fight daily for their survival.
  • Environmental factors - such as climate change - change the environmental conditions not only for humans, but also for animals. Humans could change something about it, but not animals or plants. The environment can either develop further and also be beneficial for all species (parapatric speciation) or it can also be harmful (allopatric speciation).
  • Every species, including humans, can tolerate some environmental factors. Everyone tries to make the most of what is offered to them.
  • The parapatric (geographical) distribution can be composed, among other things, of a new community.
  • This includes photosynthesis (a combination of high-energy and low-energy substances with the help of light energy).
  • In addition, there is morphogenesis, which describes the origin of the form: organs, organisms, living beings, bacteria, viruses as well as humans, animals and plants.

There is also the spatial and the temporal orientation.
