A recipe for rolls

  1. Turn the oven on to 150 degrees so that it can preheat while you prepare the mixture for the rolls.

  3. Add the low-fat quark to the egg yolk and whisk both to a frothy mass.

  8. The rolls take about an hour to finish. When they are golden brown in color, you can turn off the oven and open a crack. Do not take the rolls out until they have cooled down, otherwise they can collapse.

Variations as party pastries without flour

  • If you want sweet rolls, you can add something to the egg yolk and low-fat quark mixture honey, Mix sugar or maple syrup.
  • For a hearty variation, you can mix the quark with some fresh herbs before whipping it with the egg yolk or using a herb quark instead.
  • You can also vary the taste of the rolls with spices, for example with salt and pepper, chilli or curry and ground coriander. There are hardly any limits to the imagination, the recipe can be varied in many ways, as long as the basic ingredients are right.

By the way: If the rolls stay flat, the egg foam may not have been firm enough. In terms of taste, however, this makes no difference.
