What riding means

ride Although it is a sport, it should by no means be viewed as a sport. This is due to the following reasons:

  • The horse is not a piece of sports equipment, but a living being that, like you, has feelings and wants to be treated with respect.
  • Always remember that the horse wouldn't have to carry you if it didn't want to. A horse is always much stronger than a person and can defend itself accordingly if it is treated unfairly.
  • Also note that riding should be fun not only for you but for the horse as well. For this reason, a horse should never be treated roughly.

Riding is a popular recreational sport, regardless of whether it is Western or English. Also horse riding ...

  • If you've only known a horse for a short time, you can practice confidence exercises with him by walking the horse or doing exercises in the riding arena.
  • In the riding arena, in particular, you can teach the horse to react to verbal commands: speak clearly to the horse when it is supposed to carry out a command. Always use the same words, for example stop for stopping, etc.
  • These types of commands can also be used while riding: do not always use the reins immediately when you want to stop, but talk to the horse first. If you notice that the horse is currently not concentrating, you can also address the horse by name first so that it can concentrate on you again.
  • Always remember that you must always be consistent with the horse. This means that you must not allow the horse to do anything today that you prohibited him from doing yesterday. Otherwise it will lose respect for you.
  • Always give the horse the opportunity to react to gentle reins. You should only increase the pressure if the horse is not responding.
  • Always praise the horse once it has done something right. Only then does it look forward to being able to carry out further commands.
  • In addition, you can have your way in riding if you do not allow the horse to do what it wants to do. Example: You want to turn left, but the horse wants to turn right. In that case, always give the command to turn left, and whenever you have to give this command for several minutes. You always have to be more patient than the horse.
