Heating with free energy

The sun and hydrogen are examples of the existence of free energy. As they come from sustainable sources, they can therefore also be called renewable energies. While heating systems that work with hydrogen are still being tested, solar energy is already being used in a variety of ways for heating and hot water preparation.

Heating with sustainable sources

With free energy like the sun, you can secure a large part of your heat supply. Fossil energies such as gas, coal and oil have so far covered most of the demand. However, when they are burned, environmentally harmful greenhouse gases such as CO are produced2. In addition, the sources are gradually drying up, so that alternatives such as renewable energies are increasingly coming to the fore.

  • Heating with free energy - the sun makes it possible. But the use depends on various factors. This includes the time of year, the angle of incidence and the strength of the radiation.
  • Heating with solar systems is possible, but these cannot yet completely replace the previous heating system. Nevertheless, in combination with an additional heating system such as an oil or gas boiler, they offer an economical and environmentally friendly solution.

With free energy for hot water supply

The sun can also be used for hot water supply. This works with special solar thermal systems. These consist of several collectors, a solar storage tank for heating and hot water and a pump system.

  • A solar thermal system can be used both for hot water preparation and for heating. This works because the solar collectors absorb the solar heat, thereby heating the liquid inside and directing this heat to the solar storage tank. The liquid is cooled down and pumped back to the collector. This process repeats itself over and over again.
  • Renewable energies - examples from everyday life

"Renewable energies", this term is currently on everyone's lips. But what exactly ...

  • The solar storage unit compensates for the irregular strength of the sun. It also stores the heat so that it can be used for several days.
  • The storage tank is connected to the actual heating system, as the solar thermal capacity cannot completely cover the need for heat in winter.

A solar thermal system can be combined with almost any heating system.
