• If there is a table of contents, check whether the order of the chapters in the text corresponds to that in the table of contents. The headings should also be identical, as should the numbering.
• Pay attention to consistent paragraphs. When is a simple paragraph sufficient, when should a blank line be inserted? Or is there a paragraph control with a fixed distance between two paragraphs? Then this must be uniform.
• Also watch out for double spaces. These can sometimes be difficult to see, depending on whether the text is justified or justified. It is better to correct once too much than once too little, because the clerk will see when the corrections are made whether there were actually two spaces. Alternatively, he can delete all double spaces via "search and replace" in his file.

How to correct clearly

• A correction that you make in the body of the text is repeated in the margin next to the line in which the error occurs. Use the same correction symbol in the margin as in the text. If possible, the characters in the margin are placed in the order in which they appear in the text. For example, if you want to cross out a letter, cross it out with a vertical line in the body of the text. In addition to another vertical line, note the symbol for "delete" on the edge. To insert a letter, highlight the previous letter in the text. Next to the same character in the margin, write the marked letter again and then the letter that is to be inserted.

Nobody is a walking dictionary that does not make any mistakes. You therefore need tools in order to be able to correct correctly.

Since you type in the word you are looking for, looking it up is much faster than with a conventional dictionary. The Duden Korrektor is a great help for making corrections directly in a file. • If possible, do not correct under time pressure, but take your time and take breaks. After an hour of concentrated correction work at the latest - but usually sooner - your concentration decreases and you overlook mistakes.
