1. Every wall needs a straight foundation. With concrete blocks, however, it is not necessary to dig deep and pour a concrete foundation. They are very heavy and can also work thanks to the dry installation without mortar. Nevertheless, straighten the base of your wall and put in a layer of gravel.
2. When placing the first row of concrete blocks, be sure to work with a spirit level and, if necessary, tap the blocks straight with a rubber mallet.
3. All concrete blocks, regardless of the system, are placed in the network. The second row is set in such a way that the side contact points are not above those of the row below. Otherwise, stone towers will form, which simply fall over when loaded.
4. For safety reasons, do not build your garden wall higher than one meter. If you want a higher wall, consider putting it in a bed of mortar after all. This works in any case with solid stones, with open plant stones, concrete adhesive can be applied to the support edges. However, this makes dismantling the concrete blocks more difficult later.
5. Round plant stones are placed in such a way that part of the curve remains open for planting. This is not possible with square plant stones because the stone is open at the bottom. So if the stone protrudes, the earth falls through. You will only get the openings in the wall for the plants if you set the wall in a bed or on a slope with a line to the rear.
6. Fill each row of the open concrete blocks generously with soil and some gravel. The more carefully you do this, the more secure your wall will be.
7. The crown of the wall can either be planted or covered with a keystone on which you can place flower boxes and decorations. Special wall crowns are often offered for solid concrete blocks.
