Wear contact lenses on the plane
If you travel by plane, the dry air from the air conditioning system can cause problems. Make sure that the contact lenses are sufficiently hydrated.
Basically, having contact lenses rolled into one is not a problem plane to travel, but sometimes problems can arise. The air conditioning in airplanes in particular can dry out the eyes very much, so make sure that you have all the necessary items in your hand luggage.
How to wet the contact lenses
- Wet the eyes with artificial tears. There are special means for contact lenses so that they float nicely on the tear film again.
- Make sure you drink enough water. It is best to drink a lot before departure and then on the plane too.
- The air conditioning should not blow on you directly. If you do train notice in the eyes, put on sunglasses with light-colored lenses.
- Make a conscious attempt to blink your eyes more often, this will help moisten the lenses with the tear film again.
- Avoid too much coffee or alcohol during the flight, if you still have to, drink a large glass of water with it.

- Allow your eyes to sleep on long flights and a time without contact lenses in between.
