Cinderella and Cinderella - the difference

• Basically, Cinderella and Cinderella refer to the same person. However, there are differences as to what the origin of the Names regards.
• The fairy tale was recorded in the Brothers Grimm's fairy tale book. This version from 1812 is probably the best known. The girl is called Cinderella by the Brothers Grimm.
• The German writer Ludwig Bechstein adopted the widespread story in his collection of fairy tales. Here, however, the girl is called Cinderella. The story remains the same, however.
• The name Cinderella is also known from the 1973 film "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella". The film was a project of the CSSR in cooperation with the GDR. The film is heavily based on the fairy tale, but it also differs in a few ways.

• The main character of the fairy tale is a girl who grows up well protected. When the mother dies, her father marries a new woman. The stepmother also brings two stepdaughters into the family and they all make life difficult for the girl. Since the girl has to sleep in the ashes, she is named Cinderella. The king of the country invites all young women to a festival to find a wife for his son. Cinderella also wants to go to the festival, but her stepmother wants to prevent that. Nevertheless, she sneaks to the festival unrecognized. The prince falls in love with the beautiful girl and wants to know who she is. But every time Cinderella escapes him. The third time, she loses her shoe. With the help of this shoe, the king's son finds Cinderella and takes her as his wife.
• The first variants of the story of Cinderella appeared as early as the 9th Century in China.
• There are around 400 different variants of the fairy tale, some of which differ from one another only slightly, but some also differ considerably.
• In addition to the well-known version by the Brothers Grimm, the variant by the writer Charles Perrault is also very well known. Its version, however, has a difference in title and is called "Cendrillon ou La petite pantoufle de verre".
