• Before you start the trip, you should check your car, either on your own if you have experience with cars or in a workshop. The most important things are tire pressure, enough gasoline in the tank and the oil level.
• Pack enough food and drink to avoid unnecessary stops at gas stations.
• Get a GPS or print out a route planner from the Internet beforehand so that you can find the right way.
• Since England is an island, you have to come across the sea. There are two ways to do this. Either the ferry or the Eurotunnel.
• The ferry runs from France (Calais) across the English Channel to England (Dover). The journey takes about 1 1/2 hours.
• If you don't like shipping and prefer to stay on solid ground, take the Eurotunnel. The journey by train takes only 40 minutes.
• When you arrive in England, you will find that it is not that easy to drive on the "wrong" side of the road. In England there is left-hand traffic.
• Otherwise the roads in England are like ours, there are motorways, expressways and country roads.
