  • In principle, there are several ways to avoid the very busy Brenner motorway on your holiday trip to Italy, which you come on from Munich via Innsbruck.
  • Depending on the location of your destination, it is also possible to reach Italy via Switzerland. On this tour you save the vignette and toll for the Brenner motorway in Austria, but you have to buy the cheaper annual vignette for Switzerland. However, it includes the passage through the Gotthard tunnel. So this does not have to be paid extra. Please note, however, that depending on the holiday periods, long traffic jams can also form in front of the Gotthard tunnel. An alternative is the trip over the Gotthard Pass or the San Bernardino tunnel and then on to Lugano.
  • But there are also alternatives to the Brenner motorway in Austria. If the weather conditions permit, you can use the old Brennerstraße (No. 182) over the Brenner Pass. Of course, this trip on the smaller road will of course take longer.
