Borders - Beautify your living space

With borders you can make your walls decorate and create a great effect.

  • Often, borders are placed a short distance below the ceiling glued to the wall. It is also possible to place a border in the middle of the wall. Especially if you have attached a different wallpaper to the lower half of the wall than to the upper half. With a border you can hide the unsightly place where the different wallpapers come together.
  • There are different types of borders, a distinction is made between self-adhesive borders and those on which you have to apply special border glue yourself. Which border you choose depends on your preference and your own skill.

Measure the distance between the braid

First of all, make sure you get a dry and clean one Underground have available. So if you have papered your wall beforehand, it must be completely dry before you stick the borders on.

  1. The most important thing is precise measurement in order to bring your border exactly straight to the wall. Start at one corner of the room and use a folding rule to measure the desired length from the ceiling, along which the upper edge of your border should run. Make a delicate pencil mark there. With this method, you can make additional markings every 30 cm.
  2. Attach borders in the bathroom - this is how it works in shabby chic

If you want to furnish your bathroom in shabby chic, you don't just need old ...

  3. The disadvantage of this method is that with uneven ceilings, a slightly crooked line can arise later.
  4. If you have a laser level that you can fix on the wall, you will get a clean measurement result and save a little work.
  5. To do this, measure the distance from the ceiling to the laser beam at the corner where you start and again to check it at the other corner of the wall. Also make delicate markings on the wall at a distance of 30 cm. So you can be sure that you have an exactly straight line on the wall to which you can stick the border.

Glue the border on step by step

If you are unsure, it is best to have two people apply the border.

  1. If you are using a self-adhesive border, you need to peel off the protective paper on the back and press the border firmly into place at your markings on the wall. Start at a corner of the wall, first peel off the protective film a little and align the border exactly. This first step in particular is decisive for how the border will continue to run on the wall.
  2. Since the corners of a wall are not always exactly straight, you have to try to hide them a little. You may have to cut off any protruding remnants with scissors in order to still be able to stick your border straight to the wall.
  3. When you finally get to the other corner of the wall, use scissors to cut the border. Try to hide uneven corners here too.
  4. If you use a border without glue, you will need to apply special border glue yourself with a brush or roller. Follow the manufacturer's instructions when applying the glue.
  5. With this method, it is advisable to work in pairs, as you have to attach the border completely with glue. The other person is holding onto the border.
  6. Roughly measure the required length of the border before applying the glue. This should be a few centimeters longer so that you can align the border exactly on the wall, especially at the corners. Cut off any excess pieces with scissors.
  7. Immediately pick up the border adhesive that may ooze out on the sides with a clean, slightly damp cloth.

Most of the borders are provided with a continuous pattern. When you stick the border onto the next wall, you have to make sure that the pattern continues in the right place.
