You can tune your guitar in two different ways: with a tuner, the other with a battery charged via a microphone or via a cable connected to the guitar, or with a tuning fork and your Hearing.

5. If the needle deflects to the left, it means that the note is too deep. If the needle deflects to the right, it means the tone is too high. If the needle is in the middle, then the tone is optimal and the string is in tune.
6. To tune the tone, you need to turn the wing screw action on the head of the guitar. The tighter the string, the higher the tone and vice versa. So if the needle hits z. B. to the left, then you have to tighten the string. But if the needle deflects to the right, then the string is too tight.
7. Repeat the process for all strings. If you want to check all the strings at once, you can play a C chord, for example. This should also be displayed on the tuner.

1. Tuning the guitar by ear takes a lot of practice. So don't give up if you need the help of a tuner the first time to achieve a satisfactory result.
2. To tune your guitar by ear, you need a reference tone that corresponds to one of the open strings on your guitar: E-A-D-G-H-E. For example, if you have a tuning fork, you can use it to generate an A as a reference tone. Alternatively, you may have a piano, or you can generate the sound on a computer.
3. So let's take the A. This means you start on the second string from the bottom. Clamping or relax the string until you have hit the comparison note between piano and guitar on your guitar. It is important that you strike the open string without grasping a note.
4. Now the harmonics are used to tune the other strings as well. These tones are created by the following fingering technique explained here and cause the string to linger longer. So you can listen to the tone in peace and tune the other strings to match.
5. To do this, grab the fifth position on the fingerboard of the string that has already been tuned to the reference tone and hold your finger lightly on the string. Do not press it down on the fingerboard. Now strike the string and loosen your finger. You will notice how the sound continues to resonate.
6. This resonant tone corresponds to the fundamental tone of the higher string. So hit z. B. If you play the flageolet tone of the E string, this is the A, i.e. the fundamental tone of the higher string.
