  • If you want to learn to play the keyboard, it is advisable to buy a booklet with easy exercises and songs. Most of the time, these booklets also contain aids (such as B. Note names) available.
  • First, set up the keyboard so that you can take a seated position in front of it. The hands resp. You should place your fingers comfortably on the keys so that they are approx. are below your chest.
  • At the beginning you should have a pianovolume because it is piano-like and you can concentrate on listening without being distracted by a strange sound.
  • If your keyboard has a function that allows you to regulate the volume of the sound by pressing the key, you should switch it off first. You can specialize in this later.

Start with a simple exercise to learn to play the keyboard

Learning notes on the accordion - this is how the C major scale succeeds

It's a lot of fun to play a musical instrument yourself. An accordion is suitable ...

  1. Only play with your right hand at the beginning. You see black and white keys in front of you. One time two black keys are paired and another time there are three. Place your right thumb on the white button to the left of the two black buttons. This is the note C, the root note of the C major scale. Place the remaining fingers loosely on the following white keys. Now your little finger should be to the right of the first black key of the three-way combination. So your index finger is on tone D, your middle finger on E, your ring finger on F and finally your little finger on G.
  2. With this arrangement you have several on your keyboard. The distance from one C to the next C is called an octave (C, D, E, F, G, A, H, C, you can leave the black keys on the left)
  3. Practice playing the notes individually (so C then D then E then F then G). Start slowly and increase your pace.
  4. Also play the notes backwards (C, D, E, F, G, F, E, D, C ...).
  5. If this works out well for you, then try variations, e.g. E.g.: C, D, G, D, C.
  6. Practice the same with your left hand, placing your little finger on the C and your thumb on the G of the keyboard.

Playing the keyboard with both hands:

  • Place both hands on the keyboard keys as you are used to. If you want, leave an octave between your hands.
  • Now play the exercise as before, but with both hands at the same time. Make sure that the stops come at the same time.
  • Try the runs in reverse, even if it doesn't sound too good.

Learning to play chords on the keyboard:

  • If you play the classic keyboard, your left hand will "only" play chords for accompaniment. Chords usually consist of 3 keys pressed at the same time, e.g. B. C, E, G
  • If you have a book with chords, play them according to the instructions and practice with your right hand.

To play an entire octave on the keyboard:

So that the run is not interrupted while playing, there is a special "technique":

  1. You start with your right thumb at C and play up to your middle finger (E).
  2. You now play the key of the F, which is actually played by your ring finger, with your thumb by "pushing" it under your middle finger. Then play off all of your fingers should your pinky land on the higher C.
  3. When they play the whole thing backwards, they play all five fingers up to the thumb and then grab the next key with the middle finger over the thumb.
  4. The same (only the other way around) applies to the left hand!
  5. Put your thumb under your middle finger and lift your middle finger over your thumb!
  6. You can of course continue this "run" indefinitely until there are no more keys at the end of your keyboard.
