Assert a sublease agreement with the Hartz 4 application
If you have to apply for Hartz 4 and have too high rental costs, you can solve this problem by having another person move in with you. You then have to draw up a sublease agreement and can make use of it with your application.
Add the sublease contract as an attachment to the application for Hartz 4
- First you should submit an application to Hartz 4 and state how high your rental and ancillary costs are. If you are then refused the service because your accommodation costs are unreasonably high, you can have a subtenant move in with you and submit a new application.

What the sublease agreement must contain
- You can only have the sublease costs offset against your accommodation costs if you have signed a contract.
- You must first obtain the consent of your landlord for this. If your landlord is not informed, he can give you notice. For this reason, you need his consent first.
- If you have then decided on a person who should move in with you, conclude a sublease agreement with them. The contract must first contain your full first and last name and the full first and last name of the other party.
