You want to bring a piece of nature into your living space and have decided to lay a parquet floor. The only disadvantage is that you have to lay it on the old wooden floor. That brings with it some challenges.

A parquet floor gives a lot of room atmosphere.

How to assemble a parquet floor on planks

The prerequisite for laying parquet on planks is that it is an old plank floor so that the wood hardly works anymore, i.e. it has adapted to the room temperature and humidity. Nevertheless, wood always works a little and so you have to do good preparatory work. The plank floor must be absolutely level.
To do this, sand the floorboards down cleanly; you can work ahead with an electric hand plane if there are large unevenness. Then you clean and vacuum the floor, freeing it of dust and dirt.
You then lay a bubble wrap over the entire area. These are available in several designs in every hardware store especially for parquet floors.

This separates the old plank floor from the new parquet floor and you can lay the parquet on the foil. The simplest variant are floors with a click lock. You only need to put board to board and simply insert it into the groove, press down a little and the connection holds. To cut the boards, use a tilting saw with a clean cut and stop.
Always leave a 5 mm distance to the wall so that the parquet floor can work and you also do not have to create unnecessary noise bridges (footfall sound) to the wall. The end to the wall is achieved with classic baseboards (hardware store) or a simple wooden bar that you chamfer a little beforehand (electric planer). The baseboards are pegged to the wall. Use small decorative screws for this, a 4 mm drill hole is sufficient.
