The difference: everyday observation - professional observation

  • You can make everyday observations anywhere. You observe your surroundings and perceive your surroundings. This is important because many learn from and imitate others.
  • These observations are also an important basis for perception training and later research-related observation.
  • The difference between everyday observations and professional observations is the scientific basis. In the case of technical observations, data is recorded and phenomena are checked.

From everyday to "specialist" observation

  • Sharpen your eyes and observe a certain thing or yourself.
For example, watch yourself in different situations... both your behavior and your reactions. A change can only be made after perception.
  • Before observing others, you should observe yourself.
  • What does empirical mean? - An understandable explanation

Do you actually know what the word "empirical" means? You will likely ...

  • Experiments, for example in the natural sciences, are also important and require great care. Such tests must be carried out precisely so that the results are not falsified. Here, too, you have to observe and assess results over a longer period of time.

The professional observation: work empirically

  • In the case of research and professional observations, you have to record the results, write them down and then analyze and interpret them in a further step.
  • Before starting the exam, you need to have a goal in mind. You must have understood the object of investigation and made hypotheses.
  • On the basis of the hypotheses you have built up your investigation and your experiments. Results are only meaningful when these are in agreement.
  • When checking the hypotheses (null hypothesis and hypothesis) you have to interpret the recorded results and can thus check the hypotheses you have made.
