humidity and temperature differences often cause wrinkles in the carpet appear. If this happens, however, you can counter it. With a few tools you can make these disappear quickly. All you need is a craft knife, double-sided adhesive tape and a steel ruler.

The reasons for wrinkles in the carpet

  • By the time you clean your carpet, you've probably noticed that if it's loose or on tape, it wrinkles afterwards. Usually these will go away as soon as it has dried.
  • However, over time, these wrinkles may persist and you may have to do something.
  • External weather influences, for example if you ventilate when it is raining outside, can cause creases in the carpet.

Eliminate wrinkles - the individual steps

  1. If you want to remove the wrinkles, you must first cut them open along the entire length with a craft knife. Use a ruler to do this so that you get a straight cut.
  2. Laying the carpet - this is how it works without creases

If you want to lay a carpet, you must of course observe the requirements under ...

  3. Now take double-sided tape and stick it in the middle under the cut.
  4. Now lay the carpet on top of each other, overlapping. Then place the ruler on it and make a double cut with your craft knife. This means that you can cut through both parts of the carpet in one go.
  5. Now remove both sections and you will see that the carpet fits exactly into each other again.
  6. Take the carpet pieces apart a little and peel off the protective tape of the adhesive tape, carefully place a section of carpet on top and press it into place. Now guide the second section right next to the first cut edge and press it firmly into place. You now have a level carpet with no visible cut edge.

A suggestion at the end: There is a carpet fixation that enables the carpet to be glued over the entire surface. You can later completely remove this adhesive from the surface. So talk to your landlord beforehand whether he or she agrees to such relocation. Only then do you have the guarantee that you will not get any creases in the carpet later on.
